NOTA was established in the early 1970's and Incorporated in 1990. State licensure was enacted when the Occupational Therapy Practice Act was signed into law by Governor Bob Miller on June 18, 1991. Two regional districts comprise NOTA. The Northern District is centered around the Reno / Carson City area, and the Southern District is centered around Las Vegas.

The Mission of the Nevada Occupational Therapy Association. Inc. (NOTA) is to improve, advance and advocate for the profession and practice of occupational therapy. NOTA also strives to further educational opportunities, support research and maintain the standards of practice as established by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
