Module 1 – Building Self-Awareness

Leadership in occupational therapy isn’t just what we do—it’s how we show up.
Self-awareness becomes leadership when insight is translated into action. It shapes how we communicate, collaborate, advocate, and respond—especially in moments of challenge or uncertainty. When leaders develop self-awareness, they strengthen confidence and clarity, practice reflection before action, adopt a growth-oriented mindset, and foster connection and belonging within their teams and communities.
This module is designed to help you build self-awareness that translates into everyday leadership behaviors and intentional decision-making.
In this module, you will explore:
- Your leadership identity, values, strengths, and personal leadership philosophy
- The distinctions between leadership and management, and why both matter
- Core leadership competencies and the role of a growth mindset in leadership development
By grounding leadership in self-awareness, this module invites you to lead with intention, authenticity, and impact—both within NOTA and beyond.
