Moving Forward with Leadership

Congratulations on reaching the final module of the Pioneers in Practice Leadership Development Program.

Throughout this journey, we have explored leadership through reflection, dialogue, mentorship, and shared experiences. Together, we have examined our values, strengthened our leadership skills, navigated challenges, and considered the impact we hope to have within our organizations, our communities, and the occupational therapy profession.

While this program is coming to a close, leadership development is an ongoing process. Effective leaders recognize that growth requires intentional reflection, purposeful action, and a commitment to continuous learning. This final module is designed to help us transition from learning about leadership to creating a plan for living it every day.

In this module, we will complete three activities that serve as a foundation for our continued leadership journey:

Leadership Legacy Statement

Our leadership legacy is not defined by a title or position. It is shaped by the values we demonstrate, the relationships we cultivate, and the impact we have on others. In this activity, we will reflect on the leader we aspire to become and articulate the legacy we hope to create through our work and service.

Leadership Development Plan

Leadership growth does not happen by chance. It requires intention, curiosity, and a willingness to seek new opportunities for learning. In this activity, we will identify our strengths, areas for continued growth, and specific goals that will guide our leadership development over the coming months and years.

Leadership Accountability Plan

Sustained growth requires accountability. This final activity encourages us to identify the habits, relationships, and structures that will help us remain committed to our leadership goals. We will consider how we will measure our progress, seek feedback, navigate challenges, and continue moving forward with purpose.

As we complete this final module, remember that leadership is not a destination but a lifelong practice. The work we begin here is meant to evolve alongside us as we continue to learn, serve, and lead.
