Presented by Amy Sadek, PhD, OTR/L, DipACLM Assistant Professor & Director of Capstone Education Hawaiʻi Pacific University – OTD Las Vegas Program
Join Dr. Amy Sadek for a practice-focused overview of the OTD capstone project and experience. This workshop highlights its purpose, structure, and alignment with doctoral-level occupational therapy education, and explores what distinguishes the capstone from fieldwork, key accreditation expectations, and common focus areas.
Whether you're considering becoming a site mentor, exploring a partnership for your organization, or simply want to better understand doctoral-level OT education, this session will give you a practical foundation to move forward with confidence.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Define the doctoral capstone project and experience per the ACOTE standards
- Identify the eight areas of focus that capstone projects are developed around
- Understand your prospective role and responsibilities as a site mentor as they relate to the ACOTE standards
Practitioners and organizations are essential partners in the success of the OTD capstone. This session will help you understand the benefits, responsibilities, and strategies for successful collaboration — and how serving as a capstone partner can support innovation, leadership, and impact across your practice setting.
